Adrenaline Marketing

Our culture has become completely fascinated with Youtube videos, whether we "dislike" or "like" it, were going to watch it. In the beginning of the trend a video of a kitten playing with a stick could get 5 million hits no problem, but thankfully we've matured. Now a great Youtube video needs an element of danger, humor, or both preferably.

Companies have started to pick up on this trend and it has become very obvious from the commercials we see on TV to the Youtube feeling ads before our Youtube video.

One of my favorite companies, RedBull, has really made this viral approach their entire marketing scheme. They sponsor all kinds of athletes, film them doing what they love, and have made a killer marketing plan out of it. RedBull tweets these extreme videos and it instantly brands RedBull as the beverage of choice for extreme athletes.

This fascination with extreme Youtube videos has even begun to great new businesses. There was never a good camera to capture surfers, skiers, snowboarders, race car drivers, skaters, etc. Until the GoPro camera was born. Its pretty amazing that a shift in entertainment birthed a huge new market for these products.

From the desire to watch people do ridiculous things... companies like RedBull and GoPro are leading the way with videos like this.
